According to Variety and Deadline, their sources have disclosed that a Buffy the Vampire Slayer sequel to star Sarah Michelle Gellar is in development and close to a pilot order from streaming service Hulu.

The sequel will focus on a new slayer with Sarah Michelle Gellar reprising her role as Buffy as a recurring character and also executive producing alongside Gail Berman, Fran and Kaz Kuzui and Dolly Parton’s Sandollar, who produced the original series. Nora and Lila Zuckerman (Poker Face, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Fringe) will write, showrun, and executive produce alongside director and life long Buffy fan, Chloé Zhao (Nomadland, Eternals).

The show will be produced by 20th Television and Searchlight TV.
