A new Buffy picture book, Goodnight Sunnydale, written by Micola Ostow and illustrated by Agnieska Potocka is set to be released later this year. Goodnight Sunnydale, features a glow-in-the-dark cover and follows Buffy, Willow and Xander on a late night adventure.
The official symopsis states:
“When the rest of Sunnydale falls asleep each night, Buffy and her friends are just starting their day.”
Speaking to PEOPLE, author Micol Ostow said: “I found my way to YA publishing through the Buffy the Vampire Slayer editor Simon and Schuster, who was looking for an assistance back when the show was still on the air and the very first Buffy books were just being published. So it’s fair to say the show ultimately set me on my destined career path. Seeing the ‘final girl’ trope elevated to superhero status – with intention, purpose and sincerity amidst all the absurdity – felt truly revolutionary to me. It’s such a privilege to be welcoming this adorable book to the Buffyverse for a new generation so many years later.”
Illustrator, Agnieska Potocka said: “It’s thrilling to think about the joy this book will bring to kids and the adult fans who can discover the story again, I can’t wait to see it printed.”
Goodnight Sunnydale is set to be released on 13 October and is now available for pre-order.
