After the announcement of new Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel comics, Dynamite Entertainment have now announced they also have a new Firefly comic in the works.

Written by Mark Russel with artwork by Lorenzo Re, the new story will centre on Malcolm Reynolds and his ongoing challenge to find work and keep flyin’. The official synopsis reads:

“Mal Reynolds is desperate for cash to keep Serenity flying, while Simon and Kaylee must pose as a married couple to pull of a heist, but end up with more than they bargained for when an old caper comes back to haunt them.”

Dynamite have not confirmed where in the timeline the new comic will sit, however, Wash and Book both feature in previews of artwork so it seems that events take place before Serenity.

Firefly #1 is scheduled for release 2 September 2026.
