Buffy The Vampire Slayer star recalls TV bosses shutting down romping scene.
EXCLUSIVE: Buffy The Vampire Slayer star Tom Lenk has revealed producers shut down a wild romping scene with his character and a unicorn on the much-loved nineties show.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer is returning to screens – and we’ve caught up with a star from the original cast of the show.
As fans gear up for the new Buffy series which will feature original lead Sarah Michelle Gellar as the titular star – we asked actor Tom Lenk about any wild memories from the show.
As he promoted his new Sci-Fi comedy film Time Travel is Dangerous, which is out in cinemas now, Tom said: “During an episode called “Storyteller,” which focused on my character, there was a dream sequence where I was dressed in a toga, romping on a flowery hillside (with unicorn) singing the line ‘We are as Gods’.
“I trained as a musical theater performer and decided it would be fun Easter Egg to sneak in the melody from “Poor Wandering One,” (from Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates Penzance) whilst singing the phrase ‘We are as Gods’.

“I assumed it was in the public domain, so the production wouldn’t have to worry about copyright infringement. yay!
“But while filming, they shut down my G&S dreams down and asked for something that sounded a but more improvised. I guess they just couldn’t handle my Victorian Era comedic operetta repertoire. That said, it was still a blast, if not a little chilly in that toga.”
The star also teased whether he will be joining the new reboot which is currently in the works.

He said: “I’m thrilled that a new generation gets to experience Buffy, as that show meant so much to so many, including myself.
“Sarah knows how important her iconic character is to the fans, and I’m excited she’s guiding this new chapter with such care.
“Being part of the show and portraying ‘Andrew’ was an unbelievable experience, both personally and professionally, and I’d love to play him again!”
Tom also promoted his new Sci-fi comedy film which is out in cinemas now. Encouraging fans to go see it, he shared: “The movie is so funny and wonderfully bonkers that there is no way you won’t love it!

“I describe the movie as Bill and Ted meets Romy and Michelle meets Waiting for Guffman, which is all of my favorite things combined! Also, it’s a movie about two women who find a time machine, go back in time to steal things to sell at their vintage shop – but the kicker is – the movie’s stars, Ruth and Megan are actually two women who own a vintage shop, playing themselves?! How could you not want to see how this turns out?!”
